MAY LONG...

Hello loyal readers! Thank you for not deserting us while we took such a long hiatus from our regular duties of blog writing. Charlie was away working in a gas camp (even further up North) and so there just was not much blog worthy activities taking place. Tina did go down to the coast in March for a dental conference and visited some of you but somehow this got missed. It was fantastic at the conference and I got to stay at the Pan Pacific Hotel which is the poshest place that I have ever stayed. Usually our accomodations are much more modest. I was so glad to get a chance to get to the island where I had a great visit en famille (hi Dad!) and with some friends ( hello Shannon, Jodi, Julie and Dalia! It was brilliant to see you all!)

Spring finally arrived (we had snow on the ground from mid-October until the middle of April). There is feverish activity in FSJ as people ready campers and trailers to utilize on every weekend they can. We too have joined the camper set (Charlie, hard core minimalist backcountry tenter - is in love with his new accomodation - see what I mean about modest? He wants to sleep out in the camper even when he has a perfectly good bed inside.)

This camper, sitting on Charlie's work truck, is our transport and sleeping accomodations for the months of June and July, as we finally fulfill our dream of travelling across Canada. We are high-balling it east to get to Newfoundland, to spend time in St. John's and to sample the screech and the craic on George Street. We will be back in Nova Scotia in time for Canada Day as we already have purchased tickets to go to the Royal International Nova Scotian Tattoo in Halifax. Arno (Charlie's best mate) is flying over from England to join us for a couple weeks of lighthouse spotting, camping and mischief... We want to visit PEI, spend some time in Quebec and then stop in Saskatchewan on our way home.

Here pictured, is the first trial run with our camper and besides a few minor details to attend to, it was a great success. We were so comfortable we may never go back to a house!

We will be away on our adventure and alas that sadly means no blogs for the next couple of months, but our trans-Canadian exploits is sure to bring blog-worthy fodder.

Here's wishing a great summer holiday to you all and look forward to sharing our tales of the expedition with you in the Fall.

PEACE ADVENTURE

This is what we Northern folks do in Springtime (which is mid-May up here). Ryan (with the baseball cap) is a fishing Nazi and we could barely tear him away from the Peace River. He would love to have had a 10 pound dolly cooking on this fire but unfortunately it was catch and release at this time.

We think that we got Megan and Ryan hooked on camping, as this was one of their few experiences of life in a tent. Hopefully, we can have another camping trip with the two of them after we are back from our East coast sojourn.

In the space of three days, we had torrential rain, 2 inches of snow, hail and thankfully some sunshine as well (all of this selection on one day). But all in all, it was a great weekend out and a successful first go in our new camper.
