It's Really October, and I'm Really Stupid!
Charlie was all set to fly down to Abbotsford to pick up his new service truck (Mitsubishi Fuso 3 ton) yesterday. The only flights going straight to Abbotsford were from Grande Prairie, which is 2 hours (driving fast) from FSJ. Charlie drove back from Alberta, past the GP airport on the Friday and there was not a whiff of the white stuff in the air, nor was there any when we went to bed that night.
We arose 3:30 am to leave for the airport and awoke to 6 inches of snow and a snow storm!!!!
Charlie drove like a maniac (which is very unlike him as he normally drives like an old duffer) through snow and limited visiblity, even overtaking Alberta trucks (not known for a lack of speed) to arrive at the airport close to take off time, or so we thought!
20 km from GP Tina looked at Charlie and asked "What time is it in Alberta?" "%!*$-me, I'm not even going to make this flight as it should have taken off 20 minutes ago. Maybe it has been delayed." We drove on at speed...
Arrived to find the plane still there, at 7:10 Alberta time, couldn't get on the plane as it had already boarded. Later flight wouldn't work for Charlie so rebooked for next Saturday - November the fourth - stayed tuned for following installments of the great truck pickup and Tina's Martini Girls' Night.
Today (Sunday), Charlie called Westjet and was told that all of Saturday's flights had actually been cancelled so he would not have been able to fly out anyway. We are impressed with Westjet's customer service as Charlie received a credit toward a future flight.
The Og is doing well...(growing like a weed and loves the snow).
